Happy Easter, dear friends! Christ is risen.
Here is the final of the seven Holy Week poems. This one based on the Gospel text from John 20—the three resurrection appearances, and John’s final words in that chapter, words by which he breaks the “fourth wall” and includes us in the story. “Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet have believed…” (John 20:29).
Thanks for reading and engaging with these poems, friends. It’s been a joy to do this with and for you.
“Belief”
We never saw the miracle
but hear it with our ears,
when whispering our name Love comes
to wipe away our tears.
We never saw the miracle
or peered inside the tomb,
but know it when the Peace invades
our cold and darkened rooms.
We never saw the miracle
or touched his hands and feet,
but now by bread and fire He comes
awakening belief.
Christos anesti.
Alithos Anesti!
Thank you for the powerful poems!! It enhanced Holy week 😁
